The Pittsburg Treble Clef Club, together with the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts, will be presenting its Premier Piano Festival and Competition July 13, 14, 15 2017.
The Saturday, July 15th, 7:30 PM Gala Event will begin with the three winners of each division of the piano competitions. Followed by a fantastic piano performance of Pittsburg’s own world renown Dr. Reena Berger Natenberg. And concluding with the internationally acclaimed pianist Mr. Darius Lim from Singapore, performing two of his original compositions. Mr. Lim will be joined by the Bells of the Balkans, the Festival women’s choir, the festival string quartet, and the festival percussion.

Singaporean Conductor-Composer Darius Lim is one of the leading new-generation Asian Conductor-Composers of his time. He has risen to prominence in the national and international music scene with more than 40 national and international awards that include Gold medals, 1st and 2nd Prizes, Category Champions, and other special prizes in both local and international choral and composition competitions. He is one of the newest international composers to be published by world publishing company, Edition Peters.
As a composer, Lim’s choral works and have been performed widely around the world. Between 2012 and 2014, “Light of the Night”, “Puppet’s Dream” and “5 Elemental Dances for Youth and Children’s Choirs” received international acclaim, with subsequent performances of those works by more than 230 choirs from China, America, Hong Kong, Australia, Spain, South Korea, Finland, Malaysia, Taiwan, Russia, Singapore and the Philippines. Notable recent performances include the Hong Kong Children's Choir (Hong Kong), the Taiwan Youth Festival Choir (Taiwan), Johor Bahru Chamber Singers (Malaysia), National University of Singapore Choir (Singapore), Diocesan Girls' School Choir (Hong Kong), Victoria Junior College Choir (Singapore), Kantika Korala (Spain), Caerphilly Children's Choir (United Kingdom) and Panyu Xinghai Childrens’ Choir (China).
Upon returning to Singapore after graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama with a Masters in Choral Conducting (with Distinction), Darius Lim was appointed as the youngest-ever conducting role by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as Assistant-Choirmaster of the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir.
Choirs under Lim's baton have been presented in numerous national events such as the Singapore Youth Festival Opening & Closing concerts, Singapore Youth Festival Presentations, Singapore Youth Festival Celebrations, Aseanapol in Harmony Celebrations and Singapore Youth Festival International Night.
Darius Lim continues to push the boundaries of Singaporean-made Choral music as Music Director of VOCO Singapore Ladies Choir and VOCE Singapore Men’s Choir, and as President of the Choral Directors’ Association of Singapore.
